Recently Resigned
I had the opportunity to work until the baby was born this fall and then take off the rest of the year with FMLA as I did this year, and I was determined to make that work, and my principal was so beautifully supportive and gave me ample time to think it through. Some days I deliberated hourly how I could teach half-time and be home with our kiddos most of the day after next year, and there just was not a feasible answer, especially since paying for daycare for two children would be lots more than my half-time pay... and Ryan and I just felt strongly that the school year after next would be too soon to have Baby #2 in full-time daycare at nine months old, so I tearfully resigned. I know it is the best thing to do for our quickly growing family, and I constantly remind myself what a gift it is to be home with Sydney, and one day in about five months, with Baby #2. I have found that I really, truly love teaching and look forward to when I can be in the classroom again, but for now, I think at home is where the Lord has for me to be, and I want to give it my all! I also am continuing to work on my Master's in reading and hope to finish that up after the summer of 2009.
So, that's a little update on my recent career change, and I'm sorry for all of the too-lengthy sentences! :)
